Marineland Antibes reopens for Summer 2016

Six months after it was hit by violent storms

The storms on the Cote d'Azur in October 2015 caused significant damage all along the coastline and caused the closure of Marineland Antibes.

The well known tourist attraction was hit hard, with damage not only to enclosures but also the technical facilities which were largely destroyed. Several animals lost their lives during this time, including the much loved killer whale, Valentin, who was born in the park. The site was immediately closed for emergency work to begin.

Now just under six months later the park is reopening today, Monday 21st March 2016, ready for the throngs of summer tourists who come to experience the marine habitat and creatures who call it home.

But the message from Marineland has changed along the reopening and the new park director insists that the message is about education and conservation, and not just entertainment. "We want to introduce Marineland a little differently", he told La Provence. "We want to ensure that everyone leaves with a memory and an emotion. To ensure that our animals are ambassadors of their fellow creatures."

We look forward to a new and improved Marineland Antibes this summer.
